"I guess many of you are wondering why we spent so much time on the compositing... well, I'll give you some facts that might clear things up a bit.
Sands of Fire roughly contains 850 shots and...
- ALL shots have been color corrected
- ALL shots have customized light effects (lightrays, textured skies, shadows, etc...)
- about 400 shots have customized visual elements (rain, fire, smoke, blood, explosions, etc...)
- about 50 shots have imported 3D objects (cars, models, etc...)
- and 5% of the shots are made from scratch (not based on any existing footage)
Well maybe these figures don't look exceptional... but let's compare it to...
- Star Wars (A new Hope) : 60 effects shots
- Apollo 13 : 160 effects shots
- The Matrix : 400 effects shots
- Titanic : 515 effects shots
- LOTR trilogy : 550 / 800 / 1500 effects shots
Of course you can't compare the quality of these effects shots to the ones in SoF but let's not forget these are big budgeted movies with millions of dollars spent on the effects only! I'm just saying, it takes a lot of time to composite each and every shot... in the end we're doing just the same as every other movie... and that's adding visual elements. We try to put so much detail in it that it will be hard to see everything on the first viewing. Let's hope you guys can appreciate that :)"

Muutenhan ihan komeeta tuotosta.
